but isn't that what it's all about, haha?

When I wake up after using canasa - I have some pretty gross wipes after sometimes fairly solid bms. Today When I wiped - instead of a maroon like color, it was black mucousy gooey stuff. Is this from the canasa - because it just grossed me out - what color will come out of me next, hahahaha, oh well. Thanks for those of you bearing with me through this one ;)
UC diagnosed January 05

Past Meds: Azasan (Imuran) - piercing chest pains after six days so tried different brand aka Azathioprine - morning nausea /didn't really help after more than 6 months, dicyclomine (still flared), Remicade - 7 treatments (stopping because no dramatic changes), allergy shots (03-07), levbid
Current meds: Asacol 3 - 3x, Aciphex (acid reflux), prednisone 10 mg now tapering, multivitamin, caltrate 2x a day. probiotic (florasmart), astelin (nasal spray as needed for allergies), fosamax (bone density), canasa

I had a really hard time holding the canasa in - always sliding out, so sorry cannot help you on this.  Good luck though and love to all here.

It can turn bms or mucus strange colours....if it's blood mixed in there, it'll be weird too. Some foods or other supplements will change the bm colours, add Canasa and it'll be a surprise possibly.

If it's consistent with the black colour, discuss with the doc.

I use canasa and it comes out white. If it stays in me long enough, it is just like an oily substance with some white spots. I don't ever remember black, if it happens again, I would just mention it to the doctor. A long time ago, someone told me that black stools were not good. Not to worry you, just maybe mention it to your doc.

I consistantly had the black, sometimes deep-violet gloopy "return" from my nightly canasa. It was always that way until recently so I never knew any different and I always assumed it was from the blood-mucus because I was always bleeding and producing lots of mucus . I am not experiencing hardly any of either now and the canasa no longer comes out dark.

I'm just guessing tho. I hope someone knows the answer because I'm curious now too.

For me, sometimes it's maroon, sometimes it's black, sometimes it's brown, sometimes it's white. Usually, it's a combination though. Sometimes it's gooey and other times it's not.

I associate the gooey consistency and white color with the Canasa; I assume it didn't melt all the way or my BM didn't push it out completely or both. I've thought the darker the color, the more dried up blood there is. If I see maroon, I assume there is "fresher" blood mixed with dried up blood in there. I don't know for sure though.

Thanks everyone - I never had so much mucous since I started using it too. I used to not really understand what people meant by mucous. Well hopefully this isn't all the time - I had heard that dark stools mean blood but this was just kinda weird all the blackness in a gooey mucousy way, haha...so pleasant. So much fun!! I love healingwell because where else could you get this type of info without being vomited upon, haha. Be well all.
