....do you remember the moment just before your hiding place was discovered during a game of hide-and-seek?  Did you ever experience a wave suspenseful excitement that kind of warmed your guts and caused your GI areas to contract?

I ask this odd questions because I experience a similarly peculiar response at restful, quiet times and I absolutely relate it my UC either as a trigger or as a symptom.

It seems so out of place at the time and is totally different than a wave of cramps before diarrhea. It is neither unpleasant or pleasant, exactly,  but it is a rather strong sensation.   It is like a chemical such as adrenalin has been released but without the heavy breathing or racing heart.  It is also not a frequent feeling, but I get it when my UC is about to take a turn for the worse.

I'm not sure I have explained this phenomenon properly at all.  Does it sound familiar to anyone?

Also, relative to many people I know, I live a low stress life with a pathetic lack suspense and excitement that might be triggering these feelings.

thanks..

It's strange you posted this...

My husband just described the exact same thing to me. We were sitting here yesterday and he said "whoa, i'm gonna have to poop soon" and described the same feeling.

I don't think i've ever experienced it but i know my husband has.

You explained it great and I know exactly the feeling you're talking about. I too get this at times, like I'm having anxiety about something but there's nothing going on in my head or otherwise. It just happens unprovoked and then I have to go to the bathroom.

Strange

Happens to me all the time... Weird.
21 years old

Diagnosed with moderate/severe UC June 2007

Taking Lialda 3x a day, and just started taking Entocort(3 pills/day) on 5/29/08. Started to taper off on the steroid, but, that proved to be bad..

Severely anemic, was taking 3 65mg iron tablets a day, now just down to 1 because my hemoglobin levels are almost normal, and I cannot stand the stomach aches I get from all that iron. However, I was down to just 1 Entocort a few days ago and started to have a flare, so, I might have ruined my levels again. =/

It is bizarre that we all have the same sensation.  I wonder if others beside myself attribute it to their UC.

Yes, it happens to me, too, always right before (30 mins?) I get sick. Mine's more like on a roller coaster, though.
