In the summer of 2001 I stumbled across the news group alt.support.crohns-colitis . It was very active and I got most of my initial information and support from it. A few years later someone posted a message on that news group about
a new Ulcerative Colitis forum on HealingWell. I immediately checked it out but there was very little activity on it so I just forgot about
it. In December 2005 I was searching on information about
a clinical trial for Adacolumn Apheresis that I was about
to enter. I found a thread on HealingWell from someone that was well into the trial so I finally joined HealingWell. At first I didn’t post much because I was well established on the news group. Over the years Activity on alt.support.crohns-colitis has dropped off considerable and HeallingWell has increased, so for the last few years I have been hear more that the news group. News groups have lost popularity in the last few years, especially after many internet providers have dropped them including mine. I now access my news groups through Google Groups, not nearly as good as a good news reader and a news group server.
