So I am just coming out of a flare and just as I am marevelling at how nice my bm's are.........I get that itchy/owie feeling and my hemi is back! GRRR!  So I have had some blood in my stools, not mucousy blood but more like a flat type blood, the hemi is part in/part out.  I got some steriod supp's and some prep h creme and it's helping (a few days ago).

But what I want to know is........Am I fooling myself?  I just started tapering down from 40mg of pred a few weeks ago am now at 25mg and about to go to to 20mg.  I think it's hemi blood........but I just don't know???? I only want to know if the flipping azathioprine is working for me or not???  I hate not knowing!
Beth, 32 ~ hoping to taper pred successfully, wish me luck!

I never know either if my bleeding is from my hemi or not. Usually I can tell by if the blood is bright red and I have alot of itching and/or burning. And as long as I don't have any other symptoms then I am pretty sure it's just my hemi. But when I start getting an increase of mucous and cramping then I know that I'm headed for a flare again and get proactive. I do know that sometimes when tapering off pred that you may have an increase of symptoms for a day or so but if the symptoms don't go away then it's the flare coming back.

thanks Sherry! It is bright red and mostly on the tp, and sometimes can see a line down some of my stools but not mixed in or marbled as when flaring. Yes a few days after a taper I have noticed a couple more bm's a day but then back to 1 or two a day.

**** - at myself, I guess I really do check out my poo's, like a poo inspector. I just need a lab coat and a petrie dish.

I guess I will know in the next month or so when I get down to 5mg again. I just get so worked up, I need to chill out sometimes.
