I know alot of us either are or have been on prednisone. I'm wondering how long it took for all of you to lose the weight, clear up your skin and when you noticed things getting back to normal.

I'm on 25mg now (tapering from 60mg), and I'm FINALLY not hungry all the time! I have gained about 12 pounds over the past 3 months and I'm still breaking out with acne. I know I still have a ways on my tapering, but is it possible to start losing the pred weight before I'm even off it all the way?

OH! I also wondered does any one get shaky hands and dizzy while they are tapering? I do makeup and Ive been having shaky hands and it makes it difficult to apply eye makeup. haha.

Thanks everyone. :)

Hi Neondream! I am not all the way off on mine-I am down to 12.5mg/day (from 40mg). I have not lost any of the weight yet. But my acne is pretty much gone, and has been for a few weeks now.

I haven't had the issues with the shakes, but once in a while have had the dizziness.

For me, the moon face and weight gain were the last side effects to show up, so I am guessing they will be the last to go away too. My side effects seem to be going away in the order in which they came. Not great, but at least I feel like things will get better here at some point.

I am sure there are some people who can give better info than mine, but so far, I am still fat and bloated! Ugh!

I want to see my face and neck again!!!

The acne for me got better when I got around 20mg of pred. I gained about 18 pounds from pred and would lose 5 to 10 just to put it back on again, at least I have not gained more than the 18, right??? I am at 25mg now and think I will stay there for one more week before going down to 20mg.
Beth, 32 ~ hoping to taper pred successfully, wish me luck!

Oh, I also wanted to ask you both-did you get the hump on your upper back from the pred??? I did and even though everyone tells me it will go away, I am nervous that it isn't going to. SO unattractive.

I am keeping my fingers crossed we all start losing this extra weight soon, and continue to have good luck with our tapering schedules.

Haha I know how you both feel. My whole body just feels puffy. Its discouraging because I had just lost all the prednisone weight from my last round then I had to go back on it! Vicious cycle but hopefully Remicade will prevent me from having to go back on it again. I go down to 20mg today!

It makes sense that the side effects would go away in the order in which they came. I got acne first and the weight gain and moon face last. Darn it. My acne wasn't too terrible this time around, I was prepared to fight it with all my skincare stuff before it even started.

I've never heard of a hump on the back from prednisone? Is is just like water retention? My mom has a hump on her upper back, so if I do its probably hereditary.

Yes prednisone is some bad steroid. I have had nearly every side effect under the sun from it. Be glad you only have weight gain and acne. As for shaking of the hands yep that would be the medicine. Don't worry it will go away soon. It can take years before all the side effects go away. So for now I would eat healthy foods. You can never have more than enough salads to kill off that hunger. O and if your sleep at night isn't good no worries that is the drug too. I have also been called lost *in the mind that is*. Yep fun fun fun. I understand where your coming from. Keep going once your off life will slowly go back to the way it was.O and Remicade is working wonders for me. So I hope it works for ya too.

By the way prednisone has way more side effects. If there is any doubts call the doctor they now them all by heart.
