I know i have fissure, I had one before, but it went away in two weeks. This one is a bad one, the toilet is completely red and i can see the blood drip. Any suggestion on how to help it heal? It just seems to tear each time I go. The pain is unbelievable it makes me sick to my stomach.
Thanks for you advise.

Aloe baby wipes saved my pain when wiping.
Not the awnser you may have wanted, but just using the TP will set my fissure on fire.

I like to use A&D ointment or Aquaphor on mine when it's hurting/bleeding. The soft wipes help too.

Hope it heals soon!

Hello:

I feel for you, I cringe thinking back of the pain.  I had a fissure after my daughter was born.  The pain killers made me so constipated and nobody really warned me, anyhow......  The pain was so bad, I would cry and cry and had to sit on ice packs for hours on end.  After a bm it would take several hours for the spasms to stop.  It took a very long time for anybody to figure it out, several months actually.  Anyway, I finally saw a rectal surgeon that I had seen previously and he fixed me in days.  He is a miracle worker.  He prescribed a nitro glycerine salve that the hospital pharmacy makes special, it's also for angina patients, it's a muscle relaxant.  Anyway, it worked within days I was pain free.  I couldn't believe it.  I have to say absolutely nothing else worked for me.  Again, I have felt your pain and it is excruciating.  I would scream at the top of my lungs in the car cause I couldn't bear to sit if I wasn't on ice and I had a newborn and a two year old to take care of, it was pure hell...

I wish you the best... oh, I forgot, there is an anal fissure help page.  I think that's what it's called, it's been 5 years almost, but try that in a search engine, that was very helpful.  Surprising how many people have had fissures.

Take care,

Karen

Thank You, I will ask about this. If it stopped the pain, when did you bleeding stop do you remember?

As I recall the bleeding would come and go, but the pain was gone in days, each day it got better and better.  The bleeding really didn't cause any pain to my recollection.

Again, I wish you the best of luck with things.

Wow this bring back painful memories. I have used cream *i forget wat it was but it was prescription* had pain pills *never really used them unless i couldn't sleep and my fave would be hot steaming sits baths. This is what i would do after a bm

1. turn on bath
2. scream
3. Have bm (if you can call it that)
4. scream again
5. run to bath and sit. *yes it was hot but man did it feel good.
6. sit there for hours.
7. start all over as needed.
*DON'T USE TP!!*Baby wipes me friend. cool
I don't care what people say the screaming part is the most fun for those to hear and having good humor through it all helps too.
No but realy people need to stay away from pain pills. It only makes things worse. If you notice that your have headaches or if they get worse then head to the ER. I found out my last fissure made me have a blood count of 6. We are suppose to have 14 if I remember right. I had to get blood transfuisions that day. eyes

I had a fissure about 5 years ago. I tried everything. Nothing worked. My sister who is a nurse recommended Mineral Oil. That did the trick. It softened the stool and made it easier to go. I took a tablespoon with each meal.

There is a warning about this though. DO NOT over do this or use it for to long. The mineral oil will begin to "Coat" your colon and prevent normal absorption of both meds and nutrients, so use for only a few days. However it was the only thing that helped me.
