I want to thank the people who gave me advice to help my constipation caused by UC. This was becoming a serious and painful issue for me. This past week has been a huge difference. Although I am still flaring, it is allot easier to pass a BM now. I see my GI on the 5th and I am going to ask for rectal meads and possibly an alternative for Asacol it does not seem to do much for me.

I am drinking plenty of water and now I am getting used to it. I am eating several small meals all day long. Plenty of protien and I have made a point to have plenty of salad and vegi's and some fruit( I prefer them raw). I also included some yo-plus to help digestion it tasted great but 1 cup does not satisfy me so I have two. I try not to eat past 5pm this seems to be working because I am able to sleep through the night without going to the bathroom. Also I have been taking a matamucil wafer after I am home from work(they don't taste that bad but leave a gel in your mouth so drink water with it. So far this is working well and I am still eating healthy and I am not hungry.

I bought some flax seed Omega 3 pills. is this safe to take if I am having a flare? I read it has helped people with UC. I did not buy the fish pills because people have told me they have a gross aftertaste.
Prednisone 40mg a day
Asacol 400mg 4 pills 3 times a day

Hi there....awesome to hear you're feeling better.

All you can do is try the Flaxseed oil pills. Start with a small amount It's safe to take them if you're not sensitive to flax. They can cause more thinning of the blood or bruising for some, but it shouldn't hurt you if you're not sensitive to them.

I don't take them...

Do take them with food, however.

When you see your doc....please request Rowasa...they come in 2g and 4g.

Keep us posted as to how you're doing.
