I wanted to let everyone know (especially the newbies) of a book that helped us alot. It is called
"100 Questions & Answers about Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis: A Lahey Clinic Guide" by Andrew S. Warner.

It is a very easy to understand book about IBDs. It discusses everything from symptoms, treatments, side effects, surgery, quality of life, fertility, etc. It is easy to navigate through the book so you can read through the whole thing (there are 100 questions and answers) or just find what you want to read. It was published in 2007 so the treatments are pretty up-to-date.

We found the book at the library and I must have taken it out at least 5 times. I always said I would buy the book (never did though).

I just thought I would let others know that this is a great book that discusses all the technical aspects of the disease but in a very understandable way. Between this forum and the book, I went into the doctor appointments well prepared.

Hope this helps someone.

Hi -- I just went to Amazone.com and ordered it....

click on the BOOKS category

I typed in Andrew S. Walker and the book mentioned above came up. Here's the deal.....you can buy it from Amazon for a price of $12.89 plus their shipping cost......... or the new and used tab right beside the Amazon price has 76 used and new copies from $2.55. The shipping and handling is $3.99. I ordered a brand new one from this listing with a person with a 100% rating for $2.55 plus $3.99 postage FYI....

The last 3 books I needed to order for a reading club I am in I have gotten used books in new or like new condition for a fraction of the price. I have also ordered CDs for super reduced prices with excellent results. Just check the condition of the book/item listed and I only order from sellers who have a rating of 95% or higher. Hope this helps.

Hey don't forget that if you order thru Amazon, go thru the HW site to get to it! :) HW gets a small profit from any books ordered :)

I don't think I knew that....I'll have to keep that in mind.

So far I need to order 4  and maybe possibly more of "The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch" who recently died for our book club so I will use the HW process from now on.  Thanks for reminding those of us who don't know or forgot.

For those who may not have heard about him - he was on Oprah awhile back and Primetime devoted an hour long show about him last Tuesday night.  He was a professor with pancreatic cancer - young man - young family - and such an amazing person, lecturer and so inspirational.

I believe the lecture he is so famous for is on You Tube for those interested in checking it out.

I just got done with the book. I didn't think it was all that good. IMO, I felt it talked more about CD then UC. I guess it would be good reading for someone with no knowledge of either CD or UC. As for me, I'm just glad I didn't spend my money on the book.
