5-ASA medications are 5-aminosalicylic acid or 5-aminosalicylates. They're salicylates and some people are sensitive them or their type or formulation.
5ASA meds used for UC/CD are:
sulfasalazine oral (Azulfidine,Salazopyrin)
mesalasine / mesalazine / mesalamine oral and rectal (Asacol, Pentasa, Salofalk, Canasa, Rowasa, Ipocol, Mesren MR, Mezavant XL..)
olsalazine oral (Dipentum)
balsalamide oral (Colazal)

~multi-digestive enzymes as needed ....zymactive 3 - 5x daily
~Ranitidine,Pariet (reflux) Effexor XR 75mg; Pulmicort/Airomir (asthma)
~URSO for PSC (or PBC) 500mg X 2 daily (LFTs back to NORMAL!!)
My doc's logic.. "TREAT (FROM)BOTH ENDS" worth it !!!
