Can anyone give me a review of Jordan Rubin and his products?

I am planning to purchase one of his books called "Patient Heal Thyself", but thought I should get some feedback first.

Also, has anyone here had success with Primal Defence?

I have the book. It is being barrowed at the moment. I read it and it made some good points, however I wasn't looking for another diet (I tried the SCD) to follow. SO, I bought some of the Primal Defense and it seemd to help right away. I didn't adhere to their exact dosage recommendations, but I did something similar. I stayed on PD for at least a year, then I stopped taking it. I have done a couple other things that have helped, I am convinced that PD helped. If you'd like to send me your mailing address I'll see if I can get ahold of my that I think of it it might be downstairs...I will look. Let me know if you'd like to barrow it.

Many thanks Dan, for offering your book, however, I live in the UK so it would be difficult.
I might just go to Amazon and buy a copy for myself.

As for the Primal Defence, it sound like a useful supplement and I might have to pick up a bottle of that too.

Thanks again.

While I don't have the book you are refering to, I got a free copy of his book "The Maker's Diet" from the Vitaminshoppe, for some reason, they were giving away the hardcover version of this book several years ago. I actually got this book before I knew what Crohn's or Colitis was.

I don't think he has much new or exciting to say. His approach is sort of a modified SCD diet and a forum for him to sell his very expensive products. His story is somewhat inspiring in the book I read but there is not much substance on getting better. If you want to try his approach without all the obfuscation, filler and sales, google "paleolithic diet" and stay on that for a couple of weeks and take a good probiotic like Primadophilus.

I was doing something similar to SCD as well as Asacol and other supplements. When I switched to maker's diet (especially goat dairy products) I saw great improvements. I've never purchased any of Jordan's products and use different probiotics than primal defense. What I liked about the diet is that it's phased (you may need to do phase one for longer than he recommends in the book). He also spells out what foods are and are not appropriate to eat. I found that there were some things from the okay list that I couldn't eat, like nuts. I'm mostly still following the diet after several months, but haven't really progressed into the later/last phase. Be prepared for very incremental improvements. There are a few people who post about diets they are on, most have said it takes a few months to notice a difference and at least a year to see big improvements. A person who goes by the login BOB59 is on SCD and another guy who has chrones has posted about maker's diet, he goes by CrazyHarry. Search for their posts to read how they're doing.

I'm mostly doing well, with an occasional bump in the road, especially when I eat the wrong things. But generally my condition (which required two hospitalizations last year, remicade and lots of prednisone) is greatly improved. Some folks here are also eating spinach and sunflower seeds to improve their symptoms. I'm doing the same, and am seeing some improvements. I do whatever I can that's natural to get better.

His company has been fined more than once for making false claims about their products. Look him up on He also does a cheesy 30 minute infomercial type show on one of the religious channels.......that's enough to make me leary. I used their probiotic years ago, but it didn't do anything that I could detect. The Digestive Advantage from Walgreen's is a lot cheaper and actually helps.
