I started to take some zinc supplements a few days ago when feeling cold symptoms come on. I was surprised and pleased to see that it seems to have stopped or at least drastically reduced my chronic diarrhea. Is this just a constipating effect of zinc, or does anyone know if it can actually work on IBD/colitis in some way?
21 years of UC which started after quitting smoking. In and out of flares which are usually triggered by antibiotics.

  • 3 500mg Pentasa a day
  • Probiotic
  • Psyllium powder.

How much of the zinc supplements did you take and for how long?
Could be coincidence, but yes..it can cause constipation if taken in very large doses.

Zinc is apparently needed for communication signaling in the intestines, plus a whole host of other good stuff.
