I've never had pain with UC. In fact until I found this website I had no idea that pain was a symptom. I had severe pancolitis over a 2 month period. My colon, stomach and entire digestive tract for that matter felt fine. Never had bloating either with my IBS. I'm hoping lack of pain is a good sign but you never know with this condition.
Med free for a bit as I needed a break from Asacol

Me too...

I have no pain, no blood, no mucus.
I feel pretty much like a normal person apart from the fact that I have 8-10 BM/Day with urgency.

All I can say is that you're a lucky duck! :) I have unfortunately had the pain since diagnosis while flaring.

Yes. I had UC for 12 years and never had pain-even during my worst flare (which resulted in losing my colon). My GI was always perplexed that I could be so ill but not have the typical UC cramping.

Wow! That's very fortunate. I can't even imagine a flare up without pain. My last flare up I was experience pain that matched and exceeded anything I've ever had, and I've had quite a few sports related injuries.

I didn't have any pain with my first flare, did with my second and a little with my third.

Dx:  UC Proctitis 2006
Meds:  None so far. Garlic works to ease flares. My GI laughed when I told him and said it was just coincidence.
Started Meds:  Apr 9 08 500mg 5ASA (salofalk) to ease flare, tapering, stopped.
Diet:  Regular fresh garlic, Biobest yogurt daily, Omega 3 supplements, very limited junk food, carbs and processed food, low fat diet.  Lots of fresh fruit and veggies (limited potatoes).
 Added: tumeric and probiotics.

I imagine it has to do with how badly your colon has been "changed" by the disease. New patients usually don't experience pain because there's virtually no scar tissue in the colon and no stricturing (so no constipation either)...

There has to be more to it than changing of the colon. I had severe disease that I was hospitalized for in my 12 year of having UC, still zero pain. Ultimately I was rendered a medical failure and had to have jpouch surgery.

Besides damage to the colon, diet and gas maybe contributors as well.
