It looks like the steroids and the pentassa has stopped working after a few days after initially completely getting rid of the bleeding and
diarrhoea symptoms earlier this week. I am now on day 5 and I noticed a small speck of blood on the tissue and maybe a a small tinge on one of my stools. The diarrhoa has disappeared and I am now having 2 bowel movements a day. Is it just a little lapse or does some spotting show up from time to time?

I'd love to just be on Mesazaline but it looks like it isn't working again.

Please can people let me if I should be worried?

Diagnosis Oct 07 and then Aug 08: 2 Patches of Mild Chrohn's Colitis with no Granuloma
Medication: 4000mg Pentasa a day, 5mg Clipper Steroid (Beclometasone dipropionate)

LondonRed, we usually find that small amounts of blood like this are from hemorrhoids. If you're not having D., that's a good sign. Do the usual for hemmies that are acting up (OTC meds, sitz baths, careful cleansing) and I'd just watch for now. If it gets worse, then you can call your doctor.

I am not having D but the stools are softer and dispersing more. The fact is though they do make a large plop (TMI) when then they drop so I guess they are solid BM's. I have been 4 times already today and it was down to 2 the last few days - maybe the anxiety with the blood is making my IBS play up too. Life sucks sometimes but we have to be grateful to God for what we have.

My GI just emailed this to me:

Please do not attribute any tinge of blood with your inflammation. Frequency of motions and consistency of stools are the major determinents of colonic inflammation. So I think you are doing well. Please stop thinking of more aggressive medications as we donot know the future and the diagnosis is far from 100%.

I'd suggest it could be the rectal inflammation that your c-scope report stated, I would think that if it got worse, you could ask about rectal meds...

In reality....I went through so many ups and downs the first 2 years, especially when the inflammation started healing from up to down.  I didn't know HOW to deal with just the rectal symptoms, and yes the bleeding always freaked me out when I had least expected it.

I also had LOTS of emotional stress thorughout those years...I'll add anxiety attacks to the mix.
Therapy helped me get a grip......not that it changed my symptoms, it allowed me to not focus on just the obvious where there was so much more going on in my life. idea (many lightbulb moments)

Hang tough....as usual.

Oh, wow, thanks for the link!! First time I had ever heard of it!!

My bleeding has also become more frequent <on the tissue> .. just hoping it's not from drinking Metamucil.
