I just recently finished the tappering of my prednisone.  I went from 20mg's all the way down to 2.5mg's.....over a 8 week period.  Outside of just a few ill feelings I felt pretty normal.  Now that I am off of everything I have GAINED 6lbs.  in 1 week.  It is almost like the side effects are going in reverse.  Is this possible?  I am going to start a diet just so I don't get out of hand with the weight but, come on.  Am I doing something wrong.  Any input would be greatful........Thank you so very much.....

I don't know if this is what happened to you, but only after I was off all prescription meds and my body was healing and the best it had been since my 3 years of colitis did I gain some of the weight back that I had initially lost. I never gain on prednisone, but like I said when I was off meds I guess my body was the healthiest it had been and my gut was absorbing the food a whole lot better. So maybe this is a postive blessing in disguise.
If your really concerned about the weight my suggestion to you is to eat tons of veggies. Good for you, fill you up and not many calories at all.

I am the same way when I taper with prednisone. I get moody, irritable, and I crave food that I normally don't eat, like ice-cream. I believe everyone reacts to prednisone differently. I understand what you are going through. Good luck!
