Sigh...another vent....I am tapering off prednisone. I was put on it due to my arthritis, which was induced from the uc. I had to miss a remicade treatment due to having a yeast infection and then a sinus infection. I FINALLY had a remicade treatment two days ago. I feel better but the prednisone is making me wacko! Talk about having extreme mood swings and cravings. I told the nurse practioner that its like having a 24/7 pms! She said that is very common. Why is it I don't have these symptoms when I start the prednisone at a high dose, but start to feel it after tapering? I am going to take my last dose tomorrow (5mg). I cannot take it anymore. Anyway, thanks for listening to me vent. :-D

I HATE, HATE, HATE prednisone too!!! I joke that as I am tapering I am missing the 'juice'. I cried at 60mg a alot, but my moods from 60/40 to 20 tapering were fine. Now I am at 10mg and I hate everyone, i'm pissed off and bitter and annoying (to myself). Someone here described something as a bag of cats, well that is how I feel. Imagine how ticked a bag of cats would be (sorry but that just cracks me up picturing a bag of cats, I can't stop myself!).

Anyhoo, yeah.......I'm irritable too. GRRRRR

Glad you are getting off the pred and hope everything goes well w/your arthritis! Woo Hoo!
Beth, 32 ~ hoping to taper pred successfully, wish me luck!

My son has colitis,,,  the strange thing is that he feels GREAT  when he is taking Prednisone.  That is the only time he gets relief.  He'll start at 60mg, for a week or so then start to taper.  Takes him a couple months to taper.  Once he is off, he is good for a couple months but feels the old flare start to come back.  He would take Prednisone everyday forever if his doctor would let him.
He is at a new doctors right now, who will do Remicade.
His other doctor would not let him do it.  Strange how all the doctors tell ya different things.  Go figure.

I personally believe everyone reacts differently to prednisone. Thanks Beth75 for sharing your story with me. It helps knowing that I am not alone in this. :-D

You are not alone at all!

My poor husband is so happy I am off the dreaded pred. He never knew who he was going to find - the super witch or the nice wife. I could hardly stand myself.

I hope your taper goes well!
