I had my remicade treatment last tuesday, 8/19, after 4 months of not having treatment due to infections, etc. I was put on prednisone due to arthritic symptoms. I was supposed to go away this weekend with my boyfriend and his cousins but had to stay home due to having a reaction to the Remicade. The nurse told me to stay home and rest for at least 24 hours. I was having flu like symptoms (achiness, fatigue, hot/cold, low grade fever). So I am feeling very blah from not being able to be with my boyfriend and finishing prednisone does not help either. What can I do to get out of the dumps? I had to cancel two trips this month from being ill. It really stinks! mad

i know exactly how you feel, i lost my job at the beginning of the year cause of my health and i just started a new one in the same trade and 3 weeks in to the job i'm having another flare up it completely sucks! best thing i found to do was have a night in with your closest friends if you can and talk to people that understand most. with this kind of illness you feel like you the only person who feels that way but speaking to people who understand and can relate makes you realise you will bounce back!! turn by the way how do you put the dosage and stuff on the bottom of your posts?? rolleyes xxxxxx

Ah Heather sorry to hear you didn't get to go away. That's a real bummer. No point in saying there'll be other weekends either...almost like plenty more fish in the sea. it's not what you want to hear. Hugs (((o)))

Hi LyndaC, I received your e-mail just now and will write back later tonight. Its okay that I didn't go away. Honestly, I don't think I am ready to deal with being away with his family. They don't really know the severity of my uc. My boyfriend and I have been dating for almost ten months and he's stuck by me through the mood swings, weight gain, bad flare ups, etc. You name it-he's seen it all! I even told him that its better that I am not there because I most likely will want to stay in the hotel room. I am getting a lot of work done while recupperating from the Remicade. The nurse said I need rest and to drink lots of fluids. I honestly do feel somewhat better today. It all takes time. I am sure I can make it up to my boyfriend. :) I even told my bf to tell his family the truth. He is pretty vague with him about my condition to protect my privacy. I told him to tell them that I just have an infusion and had a reaction to it. I am not embarrased by it. Its part of me. They can either accept it or not. Its not going to change the fact that I have it.

Anyhoo, I will write to you later tonight. Take care Lynda! :)

That's the right attitude Heather. Take care and keep being optimistic and definitely interact with people that support you. That is such a big help.
