I was so sick of not feeling well in my rectal area and lower left side, that I called my doctor today and got back in to see her. I had nothing visible feel wise in the lower rectal area and no blood there she could see but the nurse practitioner thinks the inflammation is a little higher up in the rectal area then she can feel. I mentioned the Rowasa enemas to her and that I was not able to get on them in the past due to Dr. Griffin saying he could not get them anymore.

What happened was that his source for them in the past quit dealing with the enemas and he had no available source again until recently. He had another salesman come to him wanting to sell the enemas to him. The Nurse Practitioner asked me if there was anything that may have triggered this flareup and I said not anything I was aware of. I explained to her that I totally avoid anything food wise that is spicy or tomato based per my preference.

However, my husband mentioned the two doses of antibiotics I took back in July for the urinary tract infection and the klebsiella bacteria I had as the possible source for the problems. But anyway, I can start on the enemas tonight. Hope they help.

Good luck on the enemas and I sincerely hope they get you feeling better. Are you in the states or elsewhere?

Hey Red_34, I am in the Southeastern part of the U.S., in Tennessee. I hope they do the trick also. Wondering if anyone has ever had low back discomfort with their flares? Mine is like inflammation. I had no problems holding the enema in all night after using it last night. I was afraid I would. Does the mesalamine in the enema absorb into your colon or is that something that I should have passed back out this morning as I did not? Have not had to use them in years. Don't know how long it will take for this to work but I definitely hope this is just a flare and that this will clear it up with these.

Out of 3 places I called drugstore wise, only one drugstore had one package of them. And luckily it was one right around the corner from my house. They had to order me three more boxes which will be in Thursday. I have for years had problems with low back discomfort in the middle though so I don't think that is related. I have had female issues that could be related to. I told my doctor everything, about the throbbing after bm's, everything.

They asked if I had any abdominal pain and I don't. I told them all of my discomfort feels around the rectal area and the area at the rectal area just starting into the bowel. I so hope this takes care of things.

Hi.....I don't get the doctor's source of enemas to him...he doesn't sell them, he prescribes them. The pharmacies sell them. Oh well.

I'm ecstatic you got them finally.

Inflammation can be very slight. Your doctor should have taken a swap bo make sure nothing else is going on, however, especially considering your husband's suggestion of the recent antibiotics and the Klebsiella bacterial infection.

Maybe you should still have your gyne appointment check into your ovaries and uterus in case there's something else going on. Do you have entometriosis?

Keep us updated as to how you're doing.

Well Quincy, I had no endometriosis back a year and a half ago but do have uterine fibroids but I was told I should have no problems with those. Now that I think about it Quincy, I don't know what he meant by that. These salespeople do come by and give him sample boxes of the enemas with one enema in them, so I don't understand him not writing a prescription for them either. The drugstores have nothing to do with him having them or being able to write a prescription for them.

Well, things felt ok to her in the rectal exam where she could reach anyway. And she definitely saw no blood when she did the rectal exam. So that is why she felt it was a little higher up. I have to go back to the gynecologist in October. I have slight pelvic spasms also with this. I am hoping that these enemas will heal up whatever is there. It will be nice to feel back to half normal. The only things I have done different since July are the 2+ weeks of the antibiotics and the klebsiella bacteria in my urinary tract and starting birth control pills to straighten out my periods.

And from what I read about the pills, the pills can cause a flareup of any chronic inflammatory diseases. So if this is what occurred I know from what.

This last flare I had horrible low back pains. I constantly felt like I had been kicked and punched in the back. So not fun!

I hope the Rowasa helps you quickly!
