I have seen a few threads lately about the active form of turmeric, which is curcumin.  The research article that pb4 posted about basically confirms my nearly 2 years of remission, (thanks pb4).  I had tried turmeric/curcumin pills with only minimal success, but still needed my big doses of prednisone to maintain any relief.  I drank Haldi initially because I was searching for anything to give me relief, later coming to the understanding that it contains curcumin in an absorbable or more active form.  Understanding some of the science behind it was great, but the bottom line was I have been able to stay off prednisone, go back to eating a larger variety of foods, and get my life back, all by drinking this little bottle of Haldi daily.  I try not to recommend things because we UCers are so individual, but I think a large majority of IBD sufferers can feel better as I have.  pb4, if you see any more articles, let us know, thanks,

landcruiser- I found it originally at whole foods markets on the east coast, DC/New York, while on business, but now find it at Haldi4health, and they send it right to my house. I looked for it at walmart, but have not found it there.

finick, sorry you have not had any success yet with ideas from this board, as I have said before, what works for one person may not work for another. That being said, after years of flaring and taking prednisone, etc., it is the only thing that gives me complete relief.  I drink a bottle daily, and it actually doesnt taste too bad either.  I started with 1-2 drinks daily, and I had relief within 5 or 6 days.  Now I am  at a maintenance dose of 1 daily.  It has also helped with my GERD,(acid reflux).  good luck,

It's nearly $3 a drink. With all due respect, I think a lot of commercial people come on here pretending to be unwell to promote their products. Not saying you are one of those yuckygut but I am fed up of these "miracle cures". I have been taking AloeElite for a week and nothing has changed, nothing at all. In fact my wind and flatulence has gotten worse and it cost nearly $100 for a months supply.

Diagnosis Oct 07 and then Aug 08: 2 Patches of Mild Chrohn's Colitis (unconfirmed)
Medication: 4000mg Pentasa a day, 5mg Clipper Steroid (Beclometasone dipropionate)

yuckygut :)

So glad to hear you've found something that helps (of course it's not always cheap but putting a price on your health can limit getting one's life back so if it's worth it and helping, stick with it)...and of course I'll post any new articles I come across since my goal is to help others find relief.

Most definitley it's okay to start now rather than wait, since it can very possibly help you feel better symptom wise.

ohk i was just gona buy it online and get it sent to me, but i read somewhere that if it is not refridgerated its kills the good bacteria so if i get it sent it might already be dead by the time i get it, is this true?

There are certain brands that don't need to be refridgerated, I've been on one and didn't notice near the benefits compared to the one I take now (mentioned above) so I think the basis is, the refridgerated ones are more effective for most...see if your local health food store carries the primadophilus reuteri made by natures way (it comes in caps or powder form) and if not, ask if they will special order it in for you. Just be sure that they are aware it must go directly into their fridge when they receive it (of which they should be getting it shipped in cold packed).

Hi london, I never tried aloeelite, sorry it didnt help you.  And boy I wish you were right and I didnt have UC, unfortunately for 8 years I was camped on the toilet most of the time when I certainly could have been doing something(anything) better.

I try to get it on special, but it is 2.39 a bottle, and I have figured now that I am not on my prescription meds, even though my insurance deductables werent bad, I actually am saving money and off prednisone at the same time.  Good luck and I hope you find your proper treatment.

Well, I just ordered from that website - they have a deal that gives you a buy 2 get 2 free deal, so I figure for 5$ and free shipping, I can try it out and not lose the bank. I am mainly trying the trial coupon to see if I can stomach the stuff. Brocolli may be good for you but to me it has a smell that is horrible and a taste to match, so I can't eat it. So for so little pocket change (that I would like spend on some gatorade or energy drink anyway) I'll give it a go.

If I can stomach it, then I might purchase a case of the stuff to try during my Modified SCD diet 2 week stint that I want to try here shortly. I'll let you know how it comes out.

Lucky, what is the Modified SCD diet, is it for UC or weight loss in general?
