Did I screw myself over???? Here I am feeling pretty good again.. and two days ago I forgot to take my Lialda and by the time I realized this it was 2 in the morning.... so I figured I'd just take it like nothin happened when I woke up. Well come midnight last night...I was thinking about why my stomach felt so gassy and yucky.. and then it hit me.. OH NO I forgot AGAIN!!!!

Well I took it today.. and you can bet Im puttin like sticky notes everywhere.

But did I just do something that's goin to send me back into my flare? Or can I scrape by unscathed?

It will depend on your flare. The best thing you can do is get back on schedule - and remind yourself to take your pills. Sticky notes, alarms on phones, etc.

Take it easy - rest - and hopefully you'll scoot by without major issues.

Have you considered taking your Lialda in two doses? To keep it evenly spaced - and maybe prevent missing an entire days worth? Maybe two with breakfast and two before bed?

I hope it goes okay.

I've thought about it and I've read about people doing it on here, but all I keep thinking is that's not what my GI would say to do and it wasnt prescribed that way, but I dunno. Maybe I follow the rules too much.

Maybe ask your GI about changing the dosing if you continue to have problems missing doses...

I have done that in the past and will do it again in the future. I am supposed to take 3 tablets 4 times a day and am beginning to miss at least one dose regularly. First that tells ME that I'm feeling better since I'm not constantly thinking about UC. Second it tells me I need to adjust my dosing schedule.

Rules are good, but there are times when they need to questioned.

Well, crap is right!! LOL

Anyway, I was prescribed 6 Colazal a day - 2 x 3 and then reduced to 1 x3 because of side effects.  Today my NP told me it was ok to take 2 mornings and one at night if I kept forgetting at noon.  Good to ask however!

I have missed all of my drugs at one point or another - none of it has ever seemed to afect my current status. Having said that, I have been in a serious flare since like Feb and I just have bad days and not so bad days. I thought however that mesalamine was not necessarily a drug that needed to be constantly in your blood stream or body, unlike azathioprine which takes weeks to start to work.

Either way, missing a few hasn't killed me in the past, but in the last 8 weeks I can tell you I have no missed one single day, and I have my morning routine situated around my pill taking. Also, when I was on asacol instead of lialda I kept a bottle at work and a bottle at home. So I knew it was always where I would be so that I could take it on time.
