Hello Everyone -
I have been reading this information for alwhile now and have decided to join.
Here is my story:
I was diagnosed with UC in 2006, I am 39 year old, and had was hospitalized just before my first child was born in July of 06.  I was very sick in hospital for 8 days and was on steriods and had all the symptoms...couldn't stop going to washroom, blood fatigue....etc..
I was in remission until January of this year and then it started all over again-  this time not hospital but other syptoms - this time major bloating, blood fatigue, stomach cramps are my major concerns, and I just cannot loose any weight - I have gained 15 lbs since last September.
Any ideas or input into the BLOATING - and other stuff would be highly appreciated.  Next Friday I go for my 2nd scope (both ways) I have never had a throat scope but asked for one because I think maybe something is going on there?
I am on Pentesa
Saloflak enima
Looking forward to your input -

Bloating is generally a sign of poor digestion and an overgrowth of bad gut flora. The two things pretty much go hand in hand.

Dietary modifications, including avoiding or reducing intake of starches and sweets, can be helpful. Start keeping a food diary and you may be able to pinpoint certain foods that cause you to bloat more than others.

Digestive enzymes can help improve your body's ability to break down foods and probiotics will help improve your gut ecology so the good, desirable gut flora begin to outnumber the bad.
Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis spring 1999.
Maintenance dose sulfasalazine.
Probiotics, l-glutamine and fish oil caps. George's aloe vera juice. Oregano oil antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal. Long-term remission with only minor blips.

I've been really bloated and really tired lately too. Sorry you're feeling so sick. Let us know how your scopes go.
