try not to be nervous, it usually makes things worse.
since you think you may be headed toward a diagnosis of UC, i would do some research and find out about treatments etc so you can go in knowing as much as possible and will be able to ask more informed questions.

after my diagnosis i had no idea what UC was (or that there was no cure) until looking it up online.

other than that just try to stay positive and remember that many people with this disease can feel very well if treatments are working for them. and you have something going for you that lots of people don't... sympathetic family members (or at least they can relate).

hope your appt goes well and that you start feeling better soon!

for a few months my stomachs has just not felt right. It rumbles and moves, I have to go to the bathroom 5 or 6 times whilst i work. Plus my 2 sisters have it. One didn't say anything for a long time and ended up with an incredibly inflammed colon and could not eat for a month. I don't want any blood transfusions or pain like she had. I don't like her 1000$ prescription, but for some reason I don't like going to the doctor. So i've waited.

I just hope I got it early.

well hopefully it's not as severe as your sisters. I'm glad you made an appointment to get checked out.

you guys take a lot of pills I noticed and the lifestyle change is what will be tough for me. And it seems as though there are a lot of afflicted people. i'm a cook for a living. Seems as if food effects it a lot. Maybe I'll write the UC cookbook. These forums are crazy, I didn't think I would find a place like this.

Well most of the people here are going through severe ulcerative colitis... a lot of people with this disease don't ever need the use of this forum.

Pills are unfortunately a part of my routine.. as well as most here.

Food can exaserbate symptoms during a flare up, but it doesn't cause flares or uc. I think tryin to make a UC cookbook would be proactive if that is what you end up having. Who knows.. maybe you could end up helping your sisters! But also the foods that affect people with our disease are very individualized and it takes trial and error to find out what hurts ya and what doesnt.
