at about 1 yesterday afternoon I ate at applebees and ordered grilled salmon , rice and brocolli I ate about 1/2 of it thinking I was doing good to order that. Later I had a piece of ezeciel bread and a nectarine no skin  by 5 pm I was in serious pain and was up all night. my stomach was so sore from right under my breast to my pelvis area and to each side that I couldnt stand anything touching it and I got really nausous. I was up with d numerous time which I havent had since my colonoscopy last month.
I totally scared to eat anything today im sipping apple juice last night was awful and I got little sleep. Ive never had anything quite like this before so you think what I ate was bad for me or what ?  It was 4 hours later that the pain started so Im not sure if its related.

Sounds like it may have been something with what you ate...My doctor kind of told me a good rule of thuimb is if your symptoms last longer than 24 hours its most likely a flare up, otherwise its probably a bug or something you ate...Hope your feeling better!

Seemed like what I ate was pretty bland but there were almond slivers in the rice but I thinkIve eaten nuts before.

Im totally afraid to eat today. I guess I havent learned what I can eat yet.

Could it be food poisoning?

Dx:  UC Proctitis 2006
Meds:  None so far. Garlic works to ease flares. My GI laughed when I told him and said it was just coincidence.
Started Meds:  Apr 9 08 500mg 5ASA (salofalk) to ease flare, tapering, stopped.
Diet:  Regular fresh garlic, Biobest yogurt daily, Omega 3 supplements, very limited junk food, carbs and processed food, low fat diet.  Lots of fresh fruit and veggies (limited potatoes).
 Added: tumeric and probiotics.

I understand your fear of eating. I am new to this diagnosised the 25th of this month. I am already tired of every morning eating scrambled egg on white toast for breakfast. But it works and I am terrified of even oatmeal or cereal because of the milk. Usually have a tuna sandwitch and spinach for lunch. Never thought I would be afraid of food!

Hope your better soon!

Fever can happen with a UC flare up. It can also happen with a virus. Give yourself 24 hours of laying low, etc and see how you feel. If after 24 hours you're still feeling really bad - call your GI.

I hope you feel better by now!

The flu is respiratory...just to continue stating that fact.

It could be a gastro bug, there are a gazillion floating around...it could also be a flare...are you on any meds? You could put them in a signature so that we don't keep asking.

Broccoli can caus horrific gas for me...as well as salmon..go figure.
Salmon is also quite oily...so that could be too much for your system.

I don't think you'd have diarrhea from what you ate that evening...but gas and a quickening of the colon from inflammation or what you ate can definitely cause nausea.

How are you doing today? Do make sure you eat something, however...an egg for protein with a piece of toast.

Are you taking any probiotics or fibre supplements?

Control Panel >> Edit Profile >> scroll down to Signature (remember, it can only be 10 lines, double spacing is counted as 2 lines).

If you want to add colour and smilies,....type it in a Reply and then cut and paste to the Signature in Edit Profile.

hope this makes sense,
