Yes, rest is very important. You have to remember that your body is constantly fighting itself so of course when we rest it helps us heal a bit better and refreshes us. I am a chronic insomniac and I have had sleeping disturbances for the past 6 years. I now take a sleep aid just so I can get that good nights rest. I personally like Tylonel Simply Sleep. I found that I can wake up in the middle of the night if I have to unlike when I take a prescription sleep aid. During the day, try to rest when you can and try not to overdo it - your body will thank you for it :)

I take a Tylenol cold nighttime to help me sleep. If I don't sleep well for a few days, the mucous starts, so for me a good nights sleep is imperative.

Dx:  UC Proctitis 2006
Meds:  None so far. Garlic works to ease flares. My GI laughed when I told him and said it was just coincidence.
Started Meds:  Apr 9 08 500mg 5ASA (salofalk) to ease flare, tapering, stopped.
Diet:  Regular fresh garlic, Biobest yogurt daily, Omega 3 supplements, very limited junk food, carbs and processed food, low fat diet.  Lots of fresh fruit and veggies (limited potatoes).
 Added: tumeric and probiotics.

i'm gonna have to try to figure out what to take instead of any tylenol sleep crap because every time i've ever taken it before it gives me the worst nightmares i've ever had.
