This is so frustrating.  I just went to the restroom and the blood is back.  Not pouring out, but when I wiped and of course I continue to have D.  Is this normal?  I mean I have been on my meds a little over a week.  Last week the blood did go away - still had the D and mucus.  Now the blood.  I know yesterday was a terrible day for me - severe stomach cramps, sick to my stomach, felt my bottom was going to drop off.  I have almost decided that this will never end.  Frustrated here and needed to vent - thank you for listening! confused

Gigi, the colon is a very hostile environment for any healing to take place. It is going to take time. I know that when we are miserable we want relief and like RIGHT NOW!! But unfortunately that sometimes just doesn't happen. UC + treatment = patience. Many of us here know exactly what you are going thru so you are definately not alone. I say give it another couple weeks for the meds to start really working and if by then you are still having symptoms, call up your doc.

It took me at least a month for my blood to go away when I first got on meds. I know it's hard to be patient, but it does take time to heal. Hang in there.

Patients!  Hard for me too.  Took me a few weeks and Canasa did not do it.  Changing to Rowasa stopped bleeding immediately along with Colzazl - then I started having such side effects I had to quit both.  Seeing NP this Friday - hoping to try something else but the bleeding has not returned!!  ElaineNY

If your condition is very bad the doctor should probably put you on prednisone

She doesn't need prednisone.....anywhere near needing it!

Just to let you know Gigi....enzymes can cause diarrhea...maybe lighten up on them a bit or go off them for a while?

It might take you months before the bleeding stops....please try to understand that the meds take time.

If are getting worse....that's a different situation. If you're improving slowly...normal!

Hang tough and try to allow yourself healing time.

I had bloody explosive diarrhea up to 20 times a day...I showed slow improvement....the doc said "be patient"..I was. Lessened my frustration level.
