I am thinking about seeing another GI for another opinion on treatment.
I live on the IL/WI border. Can anybody recommend a good GI?

All the GIs at University of Chicago (south side of Chicago) are great, though my old dr left for the Mayo Clinic, so she might not be the best for you...I think Dr. Rubin and Dr. Cohen are the big wigs over there.

Diagnosed with UC in 2004

On prednisone for current flare, just starting to taper from 40mg, will see what happens..

Currently on Sulfasalazine(working up to 4 pills/2x day), Imuran 75mg, Prednisone 40mg, prenatal multivitamin, folic acid, calcium, 1200mg fish oil, and Bifidus Balance FOS probiotics.

Mesalamine enemas as needed...

I see Dr. Bawani in Libertyville since December 07.  He's very personable, answers all my questions, and never rushes me out of the office.  Also, very easy to get an appointment.  I can send you contact information if needed.
How is your pred taper going?
UC since April 2006; first flare May 2007, hospitalized 28 days.
Remicade infusion brought symptoms under control, but caught MRSA infection from PICC line.
2nd Remicade at 14 weeks, severe reaction, no more Remicade.
tapering prednisone (10mg/day down from 60), started taper 4/10/08 (2.5mg every two weeks)
Humira - 1 shot every two weeks (since December 2007)
Calcium - 2x per day
