Usually when I've had to have surgery in the past, I am ok to not take my meds for a day but I wouldn't go any longer then that. So if you have to take your meds and you can't eat, then yes - try to take them with milk. At least that is something that can help coat your stomach.

It doesn't say anything about taking Asacol with food. I take mine without food all the time. I don't know about pred or aza though. I hope your operation goes well.

Hope your surgery goes well. My OS won't do my knee replacement until I am far into remission if I ever get there.  He says too dangerous with bleeding, etc.

Asacal you're suppossed to take about 30 minutes prior to eating.

Prednisone should DEFINATELY be taken with food. My brother and sister are both pharmacists and got very angry with me when I told them I take it without food. It's very harsh on your stomach.

Prednisone should always be taking with food. And Imuran should aswell, but Prednisone really needs food. For people who don't take prednisone with food they must have really tough stomack. i think i would get sick with out having food with that med. shocked   But as far as not taking meds for one day, it should be fine. Just don't go with out if for too long. But since it sounds like a one day thing you should be fine. :-)
