My proteins are at the lowest yet!!!  In July they were 7.5 and now they are at 1 (goal is 0), my albumin is at 2.9 which is good (goal is 4).  It was a huge jump, my Nephrologist was very happy and so am I.............I can't stop crying, which is annoying b/c I finally have really good news and am happy and hopeful.  My husband says it's b/c I am finally letting my emotions out (darn, I am crying again!) plus I am due to get my period tomorrow so that could be it too.

I am down to 5mg of pred and over the next month will be alternating 5mg one day then 2.5 the next, then the month after 2.5 a day and the month after that 2.5 every other day.

I think it was the tekturna that was the real turning point for me, I am glad that I decided try it again.

Also, my Aunt told me to think positively about my kidney's working and I kept on trying to think about those tiny little foot processes unfuseing and healing.  I wasn't too sure about it at first but am going to keep on doing that!!!

I am not out of the woods yet, I am trying to be hopeful but cautious.  I am scared to be too optimistic.

It's been one whole year.   Thanks everyone for your caring and support (ok crying again, gotta go!)

Beth, 32 ~ hoping to taper pred successfully, wish me luck!

Hi....your visualisation is a recognised therapy for any patients with chronic illness...some cancer patients do use it. It's like a biofeedback process and putting a proactive energy to the spot rather than a counterproductive one couldn't do any harm from my perspective.

Be optimistic....it's what we all have to be. Try not to think polarised, meaning it's all or nothing. When you aren't doing well, you'll be able to handle it much better.

Seems the new doc is also a huge plus for you.....

Way to go Beth....look back and see all you've done for yourself and give yourself a huge pat on the back.

I'm glad you're trying the alternating pred dosage...

keep us posted.

Oh....crying is good...it releases chemicals that actually can help to be more optimistic afterward.

Keep us posted.

thanks everyone! I am going to keep on trying the visualization, can't hurt!!!

I think I am going to take a long hot bath tonite, have a glass of wine and cry my eyes out! Maybe the steam will help them from getting too puffy!

I will try to be more optomistic Quincy but one problem that I have is that when I start to be positive things go wrong (I know they would anyway, but...) and so I try to worst case it and then when things go right, I don't know what to do (I think I need therapy for that alone = )

I still cannot stop crying (just small tears here and there but now my eyes hurt!) WAAA, I am going to shut up and just be happy about it!

Beth...what exactly are you crying about? The fact that you're doing better with a good report from the doc...or the fact that it won't be forever?

Optimism is subjective. I, personally, am a pessimistic optimist.
I like it that way. I always have hope for tomorrow..I'm learning how to use my time more efficiently. Therapy has helped me see it all.....not so good when I'm not doing what needs to be done to have me not procrastinating at the things that will have me feeling better. Ah, maybe tomrrow I'll work on it....lol!

Let your emotions run the gammit and see what comes of it. It's the first experience obviously to this degree. Don't underestimate your own integrity or strength......it takes time to have it make sense.

Hope the new day has you feeling better and a little clearer.

Interesting info on optimism...not all what it seems.  Interesting read.

I think I was just crying as a release from all my pent up emotion. I feel like I had just about taken enough dissapointment as I could and was very happy and scared at the same time, happy that I am doing so much better but scared b/c I know it could get worse again and not know why, it's a longer way to fall.

I try to look at all the angles to any situation, figure out how I will deal w/the bad and try to hope for the good. I call myself a realist, not a pessimist or an optomist.

I have begun to form some theroies that I need to stay away from any drugs that can potentially damage the kidneys. about 2 weeks ago I stopped taking the OTC prilosec my GI recommended for my stomach pains (forgot to buy more and figured would see how well I would be w/out them) well around that time my ankles began to swell less (not sure if b/c I took less pred, which made me swell??) or what it is, but Prilosec and Furosomide (for swelling, which I will stop taking tomorrow) can cause interstitial nephritis, so I wonder.......... I think back to when I was on accutane and they put me on lipitor for my cholesterol and my ankles did not swell while on the lipitor (I think I must have gone into a remission of some sort). Anyhow. I could blah, blah, blah forever..........

good luck w/your procrastination, did you get to it today or are you looking at tomorrow now?

Makes sense Beth...you definitely are a fabulous sleuth!

Nah on the getting some things done, I had to have an echocardiogram and then bummed around the rest of the day with my husband. At least we made a decision for kitchen tile to go on the backsplash..;-)
I'm now on a time limit, so will be getting to my "list" soon.

Decisions are a good thing....options are what can either have us overwhelmed or making life easier....

Hope this week goes better for you.
