after reading good things about the metamucil fiber wafers on this board i decided to try them, so yesterday i ate two in the afternoon. before yesterday i had been going about 5 times a day, looseish with some blood. but i have not gone to the bathroom at all since i ate those wafers, its been about 24 hours, is that normal? I figured i would not eat any more wafers until i have gone to the bathroom so i can see if its improved at all, but its pretty crazy that i have not gone at all in 24 hours. Dont remember the last time thats happened...

I eat those every morning for breakfast. I do feel that they have helped me. I didn't have a movement at all on Sunday but then yesterday had 9 so who knows. I have been eating them for about a week now.
Hope that helps!

Are you drinking enough water with them? If not, maybe that could be why. Or it could just be a coincidence or your body just needs some time to adjust. Before I had UC, I found that Metamucil sometimes seemed to constipate me even more than I already was...not sure why. I take the wafers almost every day now and they seem to help me. I can't remember what happened when I first started taking them, but I did start slowly. I ate only one wafer for about a week and then bumped it up to two.

Diagnosed with UC March 2007; Asacol 4 tablets 3x/day; Rowasa nightly; Canasa weekly; Viactiv; Metamucil wafers; multivitamin

It's key to drink plenty of water daily when taking fibre supplements and actually even if not taking them...water is extreamly important for everyone as it helps flush toxins from your colon, keeps you from getting dehydrated and constipated.

My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)
