My highly active lifestyle and my high metabolism and my skinny frame have made me want to eat all the time. Even without prednisone I can eat a meal and an hour later eat another one. Prednisone makes it even worse.
Like yesterday evening I ate 4 tacos, 1 burrito, beans and rice like at 7:30 then I went grocery shopping and saw all the food and ate again like at 10. I know this is bad for my UC, but I can't help it. I know it affects digestive enzymes and and how they work if your stomach is not empty before your next meal. does anyone have this problem? Any suggestions? I have began fasting on wednesday's after lunch with my church and that has helped me realize my passion for consuming was out of control.

I wish I could help you on that one, but no idea. I am the opposite, since I started asacol my appetite most days is zero. I eat because I know I have to, but only small amounts.

Only thing I could think of is have fat free foods - would be better for your UC I would think. When we quit smoking I stocked up on raw veggies and fruits - of course I can't have those now!

Darn, sure wish I could help you!

uuugh, while on high dose of pred, I would be eating something and then while eating I would be thinking about what I could eat next, it was horrible. I have been down to 5mg for a month now and finally do not feel like a feedbag is a necessity.

I did gain 15 pounds I have since lost 5-7 of those. One thing is try to eat small meals throughout the day, have small calorie snacks. Drink a lot of water.
Beth, 32 ~ hoping to taper pred successfully, wish me luck!

I am the same way. I could eat a big meal, and a half hour later eat another. I am constantly hungry. I am not on pred, so that is not the cause. I am wondering if it is the asacol?

If your eating cause your active and have a good metabolism then so be it. If your just stuffing your craw for something to do then you need to make some changes.

One way to curb appetite is by drinking lots of fluids (preferably water), water/liquids are filling.
