Hi Folks,

As always I'm poking around for some advice.

After yet ANOTHER flare i've found some big improvements after pestering my consultant to let me try suppositories (can't keep the foam in for more than 30 secs) .

Pentasa 1mg nightly has helped me wave goodbye to most of my symptoms, which the pred can take a long time to heal.

After seeing the consultant today he tells me to stop using the suppositories, and only to use again when I flare!!

I'm not happy with this?  Can the suppositories be used as a base med for prevention?  Surely I'll flare again?

So.......... Should I stop / reduce frequency / continue as normal?

Any advice much welcomed

Thanks  :o)

My GI has told me that he has had patients on Canasa long term for maintainance. So I don't see any harm in keep using them as long as your doc will keep presrcribing them.

Definitely don't stop them cold turkey. You can taper them to every second night for about 2 weeks..if you are still doing well...go to every third night. Twice a week would be good for maintenance.

What's with some doctors.....??
