I was recently hospitalized for severe colitis. My colon was so inflamed it was thought surgery was the only answer. Well I was pumped with liquid sterioids and taken off of all of my meds also while I was in the hospital for 19 days I developed c-diff. Not fun had two blood transfusions and took liquid antibiotics followed by oral ills for the c diff which are done. I lost 20 pounds but I am eating now soft foods Ensure, eggs, and as much protien as I can. I think they let me leave the hospital because my temp finally was under control form the c diff and I stopped bleeding. I have had no real bleeding since I left the hospital but no formed stool yet. Sometimes there is a red orange color in the diahrea How long does it take for your BMs to go back to normal? Right now I when I go the diahrea is like several table spoons of dark brown or redish orange chalky particles that sit at the bottom of the bowl. I have been sleeping better but it seems like I go in spurts where I will go 3 or 4 times in an hour to get all of these little bms out than I can be fine for 4 hours. I am seeing my GI weekly the started me on remicaid but I am not putting my confidence in it.
Prednisone 40mg a day
Clotrimazole Troche (keeps the thrush away from the Pred.)
just started Remicaid hope it works

Just back from 19 days in hospital with 2 blood transfusions for Anemia
