So who here is doing something for Halloween? I'm a big fan of dressing up, whether it's in frilly dresses or silly costumes so I definitely plan on partying.

My favorite thing is to take ANY costume idea, literally anything that you can find, and then make it dead skull Seriously, it makes it so much better! Think, instead of the oh so common skimpy playboy bunny, be a roadkill bunny, haha. Or instead of a pirate, be a zombie pirate. The options are limitless and you have SO much less of a chance that someone will have the same costume as you :)

Last year I was Little Red Riding Hood... Except I splattered blood all over my dress, ripped it up a bit, and used some prosthetic wounds to make it look like I was slashed by some giant wolf claws, one on my face and two on my chest. Then, I took a basket and a fake wolf head wearing granny's hat, and I put blood all over the head and stuck it in my basket which I carried around all night devil It was so great!! And I won $200 in the costume contest.

This year I'm thinking of doing a whole demented Alice in Wonderland idea. Not sure of the specifics yet but I'm starting to brainstorm now.
So, what about you?? I'd love to hear what other people have done!

What great ideas! I love to dress up. One year I was Pocahontas, another year Red Riding Hood, but not dead. My fallback costume is always a witch. I think I'll be dead this year!
oh, when I was about 19, I was a broken china doll. That was fun.

How about Miss Diagnosed? You can wear a sash that says that with a crown and robe. Somehow you can make it a zombie.

I think I'm going to be a librarian. Wear a dark suit with the hair in a tight bun and glasses. I work in a library but as a page not a librarian. :-)

One year I made my teenage daughter half dead and ugly/ half beauty and she wore a label saying botched makeover or something like that. She looked great and it was fun to do. I did half of her hair really pretty and curled and the other half teased with gray hairspray and bugs. Her face was done half and half. and I sewed two sweatshirts and pants together (one half pink and one half gray) I had rhinestones and lace on the pink half and blood and spiders on the ugly half. She wore a pretty shoe and bloody shoe. It looked pretty cool. The little red riding hood sounds great. My daughter and her boyfriend were a mouse (daughter) and mouse trap (boyfriend) last year. That turned out cute too.

My SIL does some great costumes. One year she made her son's costume to look like a Transformer. When he hunkered down, it looked like a tank and then when he stood up he was a transformer. It was great! Another year, I had a Halloween party and my SIL dressed up as a bag of popcorn and my BIL was a Crunch Bar except his nickname is Casper so he was a Casper Bar instead. I am having a Halloween party this year. Something that I haven't done in 5 years. It's going to be fun! But I don't know what I am dressing up as yet. My hubby has a great costume that he wears every year. When we take my daughter out, he goes on stilts, has a big black robe to cover the stilts and his head is a rabid bat. He has been on the evening news once and even won $250 at a Halloween party once for best costume. So imagine an 8' rabid bat! Yes he scares the little ones alot :) Most times now that my kids are getting older, we hang out at the house and pass out candy. My son and a friend will hide in the leaves dressed as something ghoulish and pop up as the kids walk by or just lie there which is equally as scary. And my hubby will lean against the tree. Most times people think he's just a prop until he moves. Yes we LOVE Halloween around here! :)
