I started back on prednisone friday morning because of a mild flare. i was preparing myself for the uncontrolable appatite and insomnia but i've gotten quite a surprise. i am sleeping better at night now than before starting pred again and i actually can't keep my eyes open when i take it in the morning. within an hour i'm falling a sleep as if i had taken benadryl. anyone else had this reaction?

I used to and still get this when I was on 100MG to 40MG a day, I would start to dose off and literally fall down or out of my chair a hour or so after taking it. My doctor said just to deal with it as a side effect. Another reason I hate prednisone.

No! I'm totally have the opposite effect. It's so wierd, I think you should talk to your Dr. if you really think it's caused by the prednisone.

Why has your doctor prescribed Pred for a mild flare? Steroids should only be used for severe inflammation because of their side effects. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC; currently on 3 Colazal daily for maintenance of remission)
