I started the Asacol 1000mg Enema + 800mg of tablets twice a day on Friday and stopped bleeding immediately... I started taking Imodium too as it helped to stop the diarrhoea being caused by the Ranitidine I am taking for a stomach ulcer. This gave me slight constipation...

Today I started bleeding again just like before and my GI said in a text teply to me on my phone - "hemmorhoids".... I don't buy it. Surely it's the inflammation and it's started to fight back against the Asacol?

Does this mean the Enema hasn't worked and I have to move into something else now? I am so distraught.

Diagnosis Oct 07 and then Aug 08: Inditerminate Patches of Mild Colitis (including Rectum) - Currently Minor Bleeding

Stop the imodium!

How much Ranitidine are you taking?

How many times a day are you having diarrhea?

Start using a fibre supplement like Metamucil Smooth...it will help bulk the stool so you don't need the imodium.

for me I take two steps forward and one step back. Try to look at what happens over the course of a week. That is great that you showed some inital improvement.

I am taking 150mg twice a day of Ranitidine. It doesn't give loads of toilet visits but it makes my stools loose nearly like D. I already take fibre. I think the Enema has stopped working after 3 day! I'm so sad.
