In all seriousness .... has anyone been able to maintain a healthy libido in the world of UC and rectal suppositories? I know this is awfully personal, but I can't believe I'm the only one facing this.

Oh for sure. I'm only 23 and there's no way my libido is healthy for someone my age. It annoys my boyfriend I think- sometimes I say I just don't want to and he doesn't get it, but it's hard to feel attractive when you just got done sitting in the bathroom for an hour.

Female, 23, Ulcerative colitis (pancolitis) since 1999; GERD; gastritis; osteopenia in femur head & lumbar spine from long term prednisone use...

Current Meds:
Lexapro 10mg, Sulfasalizine 3000mg/day

between my UC starting up just after giving birth, & never having been in any form of real remission since then...6 years ago!!!!...I have to force myself to be intimate with my husband. He's cool about it, but still.... I have absolutely no sex drive, none. Not sure if it's the meds, the ever present UC gas, or what.

diagnosed with UC '02
Asacol- 8 tabs/day
Remicade-10mgs/kg- since 4/07
Imuran- 150mgs/day

I do. On occasion I will get a burst of libido. Not often enough says hubby. I always wonder though if the pill is effective as my transit time seems to be short...

Oh my.....my husband and I were just joking abou this!
I just got diagnosed in August and our sex life has suffered....substantially!
First I was too sick, then I had hemorroids and now I have to start enemas!
The funny thing is my husband just got a vasectomy 2 months before I got sick....
If we only knew my UC would have been all the birth control we needed!!!!
Our anniversary is this week and I hoping we can get past all this UC stuff and enjoy ourselves! Poor guy....he has been great and very understanding..... He loves to tease me and say...."I guess anal sex is out of the question".....Uh yeah....and it was before I got sick too! :)

I have been fortunate. When I was diagnosised last August my husband was in denial. Then as he watched me suffer and having trouble eating because I felt so nauseated etc, etc, etc...he has grown to be very patient. My libido is normal - it just slows down a bit when I hurt all over, but fortunately that has passed. Now we joke about it!

Diagnosised 8/25/08 GRRR
Started flare mid-May/feeling better but still flaring
Multi Enzyme
Mega Probiotic
Fiber Wafer
Nictotine Patch
Fish Oil Pill
Multi Vitamin
