So, since I've been diagnosed I really didn't try Calamari, you know the fried kind? So, I tried it today. Now I'm paying for it tonight. My hubby and I went to Bodega Bay for the day, and we went to our normal eating spot. We haven't been to Bodega Bay in quite a couple of years. I got diagnosed last year, so I really wasn't interested in trying the fried Calamauri until today. It's my FAVORITE. Well, now I am getting abdominal pain and gas pains mixed in. Oh the joys of UC. You keep on learning as time goes on.

It won't trigger your UC to be worse, but some foods will definitely cause you more discomfort whether you're flaring or not.

Did you only have one food all day?  What else did you eat/drink with the calamari?
Did you have a large amount or just one?

Yes, this disease can be very frustrating. I have gotten to where if I want it I'll eat it even though I know I will pay for it later.

I had a salad before I ate the calamari. I knew it was greasy, and I wasn't sure how I'd handle that kind of fried. So, I had a salad before I ate it. I just think that yesterday was my splurge day, and another splurge day will be a long time from now. I just had lunch at Bodega bay, so my reactions started enroute home from the ocean before I had dinner. I ended up having a salad for dinner to help with my "splurge."

I hear ya, Sweetie.  Last night my mother-in-law made burritos with ground beef and refried beans.  I couldn't resist, and the gas was just awful afterwards.  I have to say, though, that it was worth it.  YUM!  I hope you were at least able to enjoy your meal at the time.  wink

Yeah I know, my hubby normally is overcautious with what I eat but yesterday he wasn't. Probably cuz we never tried it since I was diagnosed. Now that we know the outcome, I'm sure he will be next time.
