Yes it's safe or you can call your doc for a one dose of Diflucan. I had a yeast infection last year after being on antibiotics for an endometrial ablation. Since I couldn't use the suppositories for the yeast infection (nothing could be inserted in there for 6 weeks), my GYN prescribed me Diflucan and by the end of the day, I was feeling 100% better.

And the bonus is some folks find Diflucan makes their UC symptoms improve if there's an overgrowth of candida in the gut, too.

Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis spring 1999.

Maintenance dose sulfasalazine.
Probiotics, l-glutamine and fish oil caps. George's aloe vera juice. Oregano oil antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal. Long-term remission with only minor blips.

Primadophilus Reuteri made by natures way (probiotic) has guaranteed intestinal release, aids with lactose intolerance, high cholesterol and for women vaginal health...I have not had a yeast infection since taking it daily and in the past I had issues with re-occuring yeast infections, it has also helped with my crohn's and IBS, though it must be taken daily and indefinitely...you can also cure a yeast infection by using plain yogurt "up there" this tip was given to me yrs ago by my GP and it works.

I used plain yogurt and never had any burning issues with it and it cleared up my yeast infection in about 3 days....maybe your friend had something eles along side a yeast infection going on at the time...or maybe the yogurt she used was expired LOL!

How the hell do you get the yogurt "up there"?
That is so silly to me!
I cant stop laughing - my husband will really think I have lost it if I knew I was doing that!!!!!
Thanks for all the advice
I think I will call my dr and try the diflucan
Still smiling about the yogurt up there! :)

I know, it seemed strange to me too, so you'll like this, when I asked my GP how to go about doing that he said I could use a turkey baster LOL, of course you guage how far to insert it...definitely not ALL the way LOL.

But it's true, it works like a charm and much cheaper than getting an RX which I became resistant to for a while because I had re-occuring yeast infections and the RX wasn't working for me anymore during that time period.

That is sooooo funny! A turkey baster.....wow....my husband will really enjoy hearing about this one!
He still cant get past the enema's I have to start today!
This has been quite an adventure over the past 2 months when I was first diagnosed!
I have lost all dignity (not that I had much to begin with! :) and have shared my poops, hemorrhoids, enemas with more people than I ever could have imagined!
I guess if I dont laugh about it.....I'd be crying!
Thanks for the info
I will head out to the store for my turkey baster and yogurt in the morning - hopefully the cashier wont know what I am doing!

LOL, I hear ya, I honestly thought my GP was pulling my leg when he gave me that tip but he was dead serious and imagine my surprise when within 3 days my yeast infection was gone, although I continued another couple days just because when I used the RX it was always a 7 day treatment and I didn't want to stop to soon to have it come back again.

Good luck, maybe if you don't giggle too much going through the till the cashier won't have a clue...maybe pick up some other groceries and stuff so it doesn't look too weird at the till.

And be sure to get PLAIN, don't get any kinky ideas and go for the fruit flavors LOL!
