I visit his health blog pretty regular, which would actually keep you ahead of the newsletters. Have a lady in our clinic that works with him on developing and testing tech also. He's got tons of good info, but no idea on his actual clinic.

Thank You Dr-A, his newsletters are very informative. This one in particular

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2003/09/13/inflammatory-bowel-disease.aspx

When I'm not eating carbs, just chicken, fish, veggies (cooked-minus potatoes) I'm managing ok. I have had more test through a natural path, then I'd like. In this article it says boosting the immune system with Vitamin A-Carrot extract I think is what is says, has been proven to put Chron's patients into remission. That's so contrary to what most doctors think in retreating the immune system.

I'm will keep plugging away.

Thank you,

Linda

Dr. Mercola is very well known and highly respected in alternative medicine circles. If I lived closer, I'd see him.

Thank You all the way around. What your maintenane dose on sulfasalazine? I'm on it too 4 a day and I'm in a flare constantly. Are you flare free with normal bm's? Formed??

Four 500mg tabs/day of sulfasalazine is my maintenance dose. Eight 500mg/day tabs a day is my therapeutic dose.

Yes, flare-free with normal BMs. No bleeding for several years now.

Wow I'm in a flare (3 years running) and they only said 4 a day for me. I think I should up it, I'm waiting to hear from my doctor since I'm not having any luck getting formed BM's. The bleeding has stopped, but the diarreah is horrible and so are the cramps.I still have inflammation and I can feel it in the rectum.

Do you have any recommendation or comments to my dose?

have you tried probiotics? How about canasa? That really helps me with feeling the inflammation.

Yes I'm doing the probiotics and canasa. Sometimes I feel dizzy from the canasa, so I do it at night.

I saw canasa in your meds right after I posted, sorry about that. I have heard some people do better with enemas, maybe you could ask your doctor about that instead. I am so sorry the canasa makes you feel dizzy!

I haven't done a signature line yet, I am not sure why. I am very new at all of this. I just got diagnosed in August, and even my diagnosis is kind of weird. I actually started a thread about it. I am weaning off of prednisone, I take Lialda and Canasa too. Plus probiotics, fish oil and prilosec. Call your doc and ask about the rectal steroid. I have read here there is foam, suppositories, and enemas. I think people switch, one in the morning, the other at night. I like your name too!

What do you think caused yours? How old are you? I'm 39, and stress triggered it, I ate unwashed alfalfa sprouts (being in a rush) and got so sick that night. Several months later, I started bleeding. First scope they said nothing is wrong, second scope UC. I do take probiotics, fish oil, and had a comprehensive test done on my DNA and it showed I was predisposed to this. However, I may never had developed it if I wasn't under such stress, that I put on myself worrying. I kick myself now. I'm trying taking the sunflower seeds someone had posted as well as spiniach. It can't hurt, there's both great in minerals.

I think mine was stress too. My mom has severe Crohns. I am 37! I started bleeding, had a colonoscopy which showed everything was fine, so my GI did nothing for another 12 months!! then had a s-scope which showed severe UC. I changed doctors a that point. I have been on prednisone since Sept. 1st, slowly weaning off. I have cut all sugar out of my diet because I read this can really help. I haven't been eating much because of bad stomach pains. I had my second colonoscopy last week and it showed all the ulcers had healed which amazed my doctor due to the severity of my ulceration. Lets see, I am anemic, low b-12, low vitamin D but I can't take much due to nausea right now. I have been feeling better though, and I am encouraged by my results of the latest colonscopy.

I have to do a small bowel follow through because they couldn't get into my small intestine. Then I have to do the pill camera test.
