I was wondering if many of you suffer from a persistent gut pain in one spot of the abdomen which doesn't correlate to anything especially when you are scoped, nor to other tests to rule out other things (eg upper GI, ulcers, gallstones, hernias, etc etc).  I have pancolitis and am currently fighting a flare, but whether flaring or not (and it's worse in flares), I have a persistent burning pain a couple inches above my navel, centered laterally (left and right) on my abdomen.  When in remission, GIs will dismiss it as IBS (which, of course is no diagnosis at all except to say "we don't know what the h*ll it is"), while when flaring, it gets worse and the pains spread, but that area never becomes pain free ever, 365/24, though on rare very good remission days it almost goes away completely.
Pancolitis 20 years ago, full med-free remission 10 years,
Flaring or simmering on and off ever since

Probiotic, yes, I have that pain as well. I have been in a flare since last May. My flare has settled, but I still mildly have that pain. Last Friday was not a good day for me - the abdominal pain you are talking about was enhanced. Yesterday, was a bit better. This a.m. the same. It's the UC.

Diagnosised 8/25/08 GRRR
Started flare mid-May/feeling better but still flaring

hi...are you still on pred? that can definitely cause some stomach discomfort or gerd-like symptoms.

With my experience, any rectal inflammation that is just starting or very low in the rectum will cause me upper gastro pain.

Actually, those were my symptoms recently, across where I would say the transverse is, plus severe nausea. I was concerned that is was my liver...maybe it was...but once the flare became more obvious with urgency and frequency and I started the rectal meds, did the pain, discomfort and nausea subside.

Have your liver enzymes been checked out lately?
