Well have got my first cold since dx with u/c and feel a total washout i don't think working a busy 12hr shift last night helped either, was only thinking the other day about getting the flu jab now i will have to wait as they will not do it at the moment.I don't as a rule get colds but just seem to be getting everything  think i must have a sign pointing at me saying what i can get next,so am just laying on the bed with the dog whit a pile of tissues as nose is like a tap and a big drink waitng till i can take some more paracetamols as ache all over lucky kids are at nanas will be back later just thought i would have a rant and hope people feel better than me at the moment, think i might have a hot bath with lots of bubbles that might help sorry for rant but had to do it. sad

Dear lambkins -- colds and flu like symptoms are often an early warning of a flare I have found. Watch what you take -- avoid those lemony type drinks as they can upset the system. But drink plenty -- keep your feet warm !! Feed a cold !! I am just getting over a chill -- I got a draught that gave me deafness and aches all down the right hand side of my body -- then couldn't clear the sinuses on the right -- been taking lots of drinks, keeping warm, paracetamol and steam inhalations. After a few up and down days feeling much better today -- also a nice day and got out in the sunshine and warmer air. Keep your spirits up and cuddle up with the dog !! Take care. Kath

A hot bath with epsom salts to warm you through :)

I hope you feel better soon. There isn't a single OTC cold/flu remedy that I can take more than one dose of that doesn't mess w/ my guts. I hope you have better luck!

Lambkins -- too much of these are very acidic ( the lemon ) and contain preservatives for storage purposes -- too many make me sick !! Unfortunately a cold takes it's own course we can only relieve the symptoms. Many old -fashioned remedies are very good.

Colds are horrible! I've had one since last week and I was knocked out the entire first day. And the cold medicine I took gave me bloody diarrhea (much much worse than my actual mini-flare that's been going on). I swear if I had gotten an actual flu, I would have ended up in the hospital.

Get a lot of rest!

Take care of yourself - I always find having a cold or flu goes to the almighty colon as well. I am currently three weeks into a miserable flu that is making the rounds here. Still have dry cough and fatigue.

21 years of UC which started after quitting smoking. In and out of flares which are usually triggered by antibiotics. Latest issue is endless diarrhea without blood or mucous.

colds definitely suck...I hate them! If your fever is high, you might have the flu.

For stuffy nose, you might consider to try the netti pot.

keep your fingers out of your mouth as best you can after you heal....totally unavoidable sometimes, like when someone sneezes and you happen to walk into the cluster of spit spray...ugh!

If you start snorking yellow-green or green or grey stuff...see the probably have a secondary infection.

Get well soon,
