I wanted to ask you all, does anyone take folic acid as a daily supplement? and is it easily absorbed into the system when flaring?

This is the thing, its crucial to take within the first 12weeks or even before pregnancy to reduce risks of spina bifida. So how is onewith UC to know its working?
Just pondering ahead.... confused

I take it. I am sure its easily absorbed and broken down in stomach acids. Its not like asacol and timed release in the intestine. You should already have been on it along with some calcuim and v-D if your GI cared about your bones.

Realy, you see i only started taking calcium tablets from hearing you guys did so. And because i was going to startthe pred i thought it would benefit greatly. Its odd my GI never has suggested any supplements... I will ask for a bone density scan after this course!Hopefully i can experience a long remission!
Which kind do you take? Are the all the same?

Its a 1mg tab for folic acid and i forget what my calcium/vitamin D tab is, they are both prescribed. Yeah my GI put me on those for using prednisone on and off for awhile and ordered a bone density scan. Ya if your on your eighth treatment of prednisone it is odd your GI never gave you some calcium/V-D and folic acid. The scan is a good idea too.
