Question for some of you.  Doc reccomended taking fiber to bulk things up and that has worked.....still have urgency in the morning, but stools are formed and no blood....well maybe a touch here and there.....but this morning, I went like 10 times...all formed stools with no blood, but I did have cramping.....Can it be too much fiber or am i just still flaring?  No D either....I swear the mucus bombs are from rectal inflammation after going so much and passing formed stool through inflamed bottom...any thouths please.

More than likely it's the flaring, but how much fibre would you say you are taking on a regular daily basis? And for how long?

:)

The fibre is helping with the diarrhea, which is a good thing..... but rectal meds will help the rectal inflammation which is causing the urgency and probably the frequency because you now have "more" in your colon.

What meds are you on again?

Could you make a signature to list them (very helpful for all of us to give answer your questions and feedback)....because I'll be asking everytime..sorry, I never remember.

what fibre supplement and how much are you taking?

thanks for the reply.....I was always a metamucil guy, but Doc told me to switch to Konsyl...I take one to one and a half teaspoons in the morning.....It has 5 g of fiber in one teaspoon.  The only meds I am on are Remi every 6 weeks ( which I swear has not done a whole lot) and cortenemas off and on.  I can definately feel the days I have rectal inflammation and days after I can hold in the enema it seems to be so much better.  If I come off the enemas will the inflammation return or will one day it just go by bye?  That is what I am hoping.  Again...no blood....some mucus but this morning I have gone once and I have that I am done feeling.  Feels great......I know the cortenemas do help but I also know I can't stay on them forever.....  Doc asked me to go get my blood drawn for CMV virus since every time I get the Remi I flare, and then feel better after a week.  He says it's a longshot but worth looking into...ever heard of that angle?  Oh by the way...I did not take any fiber yesterday since I felt like hell and today I am much better.....no cramping or straining either....maybe I need a smaller dose of Fiber to get used to it and slowly try and expand the colon before the dose I was on....  thanks for your support guys this site is wesome.

Hi..wow, never heard of Konsyl...looks interesting.

You could divide the dosage and take it twice daily...too much fibre easily will give gut discomfort. Maybe take it after eating...??

You could ask the doc for cortifoam (not proctifoam)..it has more steroid dosage and is apparently easier to retain.

Regarding the CMV..just looked it up and it all sounds scary if that's what he thinks you might have. Is he thinking that since the Remi suppresses the immune system, the herpes virus is able to come out a bit?
Interesting.....they should have that one on House..lol!

You should use the enemas at least once a week, but tapered from nightly to that dosage.

If you have trouble retaining the full cortenema...using half at a time could be an option...but then I'd suggest foam over the liquid.
Rectal inflammation will come and go....but since it's the first to appear and last to heal, the enemas should really be part of your regimen.

Keep us posted regarding the CMV...and how you're feeling.

It's more beneficial if you take your fibre supplement everyday and indefinitely, that's what my GI told me...because fibre can be tough on the system (increased gas and bloating) your system needs to adjust to it so taking it daily is best.
