well,  i finally had my colonoscopy on thursday.

yuck!
the prep was horrible and painful and i didnt get very good news.

at least the colitis is not throughout my whole colon.

it is just in the left side (descending colon) and the sigmoid colon only.  BUT it is SEVERE!
no UC in the rectum either which the doctor found very odd.

i have been in pretty bad pain since thursday.  he found multiple polyps and i suppose he removed them. i gave permission to prior to being knocked out.  i wonder if that is why it hurts so bad.

back on prednisone. 25mg for a month and then taper.
he wanted to put me on imuran.  but i said no, cuz im off birth control, finally just got a period after 3 years and can get preggers at any moment.  so no imuran for that reason.  then he mentioned surgery.
why?  why surgery if only a portion of my colon is flaring and he even said it looked like it was in healing stages.
well, that stressed me out a bit.  which in turn makes my colitis worse, as stress seems to be my trigger.

now im working and im depressed and feel like crap.  i just want to run away and die.
is it the pred doing this so quick.  making me feel like this in just 2 days.  omg, i forgot how sucky pred is.

i guess im just having a crap of a day. (no pun intended)

oh and on top of all that.. this telemarketer that i hired to set appointments for my company ripped me off $2000 and never gave me the goods AND is threatening to take legal action against me.  ***??  how is this even possible?
i paid and got nothing. i should get my money back. i have a lawyer draft a letter and she gets her lawyer daddy to write back saying that i have slandered her on the internet, blah blah blah - WHICH IS UNTRUE - I have never done anything of the sort.

can things get worse? yes i know they can.. but its one of those days where i think i want to run away.

okay, thanks for reading. im done now.

maybe...
steph - 32 - female - UC since 2000
oh so close to remission... 5 days i am, 2 days not so sure, 5 days i am, 2 days....
Blood and D are gone, with only 1-2 bms a day! woot!
mesalazine granules 3g x1 a day (much nicer than a million tablets a day)
enteric coated fish oil -omega 3 (so they get all the way to my colon)
vitamin D3 x1 a day
prednisolone 25mg x1 a day (ick ick and did i say ick?) all done
tumeric capsules x3 a day
i eat what i want, when i want, and i get better every day!

Yeah, I think the pred is most of your problem. You sound just like me the couple of times i was on about that dose. For me, I feel fantastic on 30mg pred or greater then get really down from 25-20 mg and then feel ok for the last bit of the taper. 20mg is the worst for me. That's when I will cry (actually sob uncontrollably) all the time for no reason. I also find that pred takes about 2 days to kick in (or notice a taper down). Hey I know it's tough but you can tell yourself this is mainly the pred talking and things will look up once that dose comes down.

Can you use rectal meds? I also have left sided and they work really well for me.

Treat yourself to something fun or nice this week if you can. You need something good to look forward to. Hope you feel better soon.
Left Sided UC
Maintenance Meds: Salofalk tablets (Asacol) 2 tablets 4 times daily (4gm total) plus 2 Salofalk foam enemas per week.
Flare Meds: Salofalk enemas and/or Colifoam
Oat bran 60grams daily, Metamuscil and multivitamins

Steph, we are all entitled to our pity parties and if you are serving cake then I am so there! :) I'm sorry that you are having such a horrible time at the moment. Just keep telling yourself that it can TRULY be worse. Go ahead, hide in your corner for a bit, have a good cry and then when you ready, come out swinging! Hang in there hun.

sounds like you're in for a rough ride for a while...hang tough...hopefully it won't be as bumpy as you might anticipate.

You had commented in the past that your doc thought you might have CD...or am I thinking of someone else?

Hope the meds will have you feeling better soon.

When do you go back for the biopsy results?

That's too bad because you've been pretty "up" lately. But yucky prep & c-scope can really mess with the colon-- so give yourself time to recoup. Polypectomy shouldn't hurt; it's probably the inflammation that's causing you pain. The scope creates friction there that revvs up the inflamed tissue. Rest as much as you can for the next week & try to think positively. Best wishes! / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

you stole my title for a post.

but I didnt have the dreaded  colonoscopy.  that is worse

this is my 3rd dose of high dose remicade with no response.  so, that didnt go so well. my doctor wont see me until december - cant get  passed the secretary. she doesnt seem to get it.

I am assuming I have developped antibodies to teh remicade, because it worked great for 2 yrs and now nada.  if I could get the appt, he would tell me the results and we could try humira.. and I could get back to normal.

can I join the pity party!! ? I will bring some Pentasa Cake

Liver transplant 2004 -- liver is only healthy part of me
Prograf 1mg bid for transplant

Remicade every 6 weeks - not working
