I feel that I am headed towards remission, but not quiet there.  My frustration is my bottom.  I still have some mucus etc - no blood, but my bottom aches/feels like it's going to fall out.  When I bend over it aches even more.  Do any of you have an "achy bottom"?

Yep, I've had that in the past. It can be that your rectum is healing and that is usually the last to heal. Or it could be that you still have some mild inflammation in there. If it is really bothersome, you can try sitting in a sitz bath or a warm bath to try to alleviate the ache. Maybe even take some Tylonel.

most definiteyl I've had that...it's the start/clincher of every flare for me. It will ease with the use of rectal meds, however...are you still using the Canasa daily/nightly? How often?

You could also ask the doctor for an antispasmodis...dicyclomine is what I use...awesome stuff. I started with 10mg, but graduated to 20mg about 6 years ago.

Yes, I am still taking my canasa every evening and am on my asacol as well. This discomfort is everyday so that tells me I'm not in full remission even though I have formed stools now. I still have 5 + movements per day. Well, the bright side is that I'm not hurting as bad as when my flare was in full swing.

Hi...the rectum, especially the lower part of the rectum, is the most difficult and of course the last part to heal.

Considering you're still going 5 times a day, you should consider to use the Canasa twice a day...that should help the rectal feelings.

Oh, and I would still strongly suggest you ask for an antispasmodic...dicyclomine is very good...start at the 10mg...but it can have you feeling a bit mellow.

Are you still on psyllium

When the discomfort becomes too much, and you feel like you can't stand to sit on your bottom any longer, try lying down on your side with your upper leg flexed forward for 15 minutes or so. It can help relieve some of the congestion and make you more comfortable. I used to have to do that a lot when I first started healing.
