for chronic constipation and bloating? for those of you who use metamucil, how long does it take to affect your system?

I use only Metamucil Smooth Orange (NOT the sugar-free) and by the next day I noticed a change in the stool consistency.

I would suggest you start with taking it after supper..it's a large meal and won't give you as much bloating.

How are your eating habits in general? can you give examples of what you'd eat in a day?

It's different for everyone on how effective or quickly fibre supplements will work, but if you're having serious issues with constipation, try prunes/prune juice, or OTC colace or something like that (stool softener) I would still suggest you start taking fibre supplements daily though and start with a small amount (expect excessive bloating and gas which is normal, you system is just adjusting to it, for me it took 3 months but was well worth it)...and drink plenty of water with it, only increase the amount if necessary (after your system has gone through the adjustment period) and do it slowly.
