I just had a baby and am freaking out that Im going to have another flare.  I had one during my pregnancy (around 20 weeks) and it lasted 2 months.  I guess because of this my UC went from Ulcerative Proctitis to Pancolitis.  I am scared to death to have a flare and am worried that I am about to have one.  I had a colonoscopy 2 weeks ago that showed signs of mild inflammation.  Anyway, the point of all of this is...i have read on here that probiotics can greatly help reduce the chances of a one probiotic any better than another?  Thanks in advance.

Try to relax. Worrying and working yourself into a state could make a flare more likely. I'd suggest Natren's dairy-free Bifido Factor as a good place to start, but you'll get lots of different brand recommendations from other members. I'd also suggest you supplement with omega-3 oils - fish, flax or Udo's - to help reduce inflammation.

I had to try a couple of different probiotics before I settled on Primadophilus Reuteri by Nature's Way.  Before that I tried a store brand acidophilus, which I sometimes take in addition, and Culturelle, which didn't seem to do much for me.  I also eat one Activia yogurt everyday.  It's worth experimenting to see what works for you.

If you aren't taking any, you might consider a fiber supplement, too.

Congratulations on your baby, and don't let this DD keep you from enjoying those wonderful moments with her!  Whenever you feel like freaking, just snuggle her neck and take a deep breath :-)

I take an acidophlis probiotic 3 billion plus I have started eating a yogurt every afternoon that has probiotics in it. Seems to help me.

Congrats on your baby! There is no greater love than what we have for our children. That is until we become Grandparents!

Probiotics have been a god send for me. The better ones are ones that should be kept refridgerated, have some kind of protection against stomach acids so they actually make it to your intestines, and have a high CFU (colony forming unit). When i started i was taking 40billion CFU's just for a marker, it took that much to see results.
