Hi ,
Just wondering. I was in complete remission for 6 months until recently,Ive never had really bad symtoms and again this time the only real symptom is bleeding.Im going twice a day (formed), feel completely normal but theres a few drops of bright red blood every time.
Im on colifoam and dipentium and iron.
Any thoughts? Has anyone else had long term bleeding.Im also a bit worried as hopefully Ill be trying for a baby soon.

I had blood with no other symptoms when I was first diagnosed I would say it means the UC is active unless it's hemmeroids (don't know how you spell that...) and if you've recently started bleeding it would indicate you're getting worse (sinec you hed no blood before) see your doc - maybe he will increase your meds to stop a potential flare before it takes hold.

Bright red blood is indicative of either a flare in the rectal/sigmoid area or hemmeroids. I've never heard of Colifoam - is that a steroid based rectal foam? If so, the steroid foam may not be controlling the possible flare properly or the hemmeroids. If the bleeding continues, contact your doctor.

Colifoam is a rectal steroid. I wasnt using it when I wasnt bleeding and now twice a day.
Anyone else with similar symptoms with any advice.I actually feel quite lucky compared to some of the stories ive heard here, but its really getting me down. Thanks

I don't think there's much else your doc can do unless after a period maybe 2 weeks to a month the steroid doesn't seem to work and he can try something else. You could try some herbal complimentary medicines on top of your steroids though, personally turmeric, vitamins A,C,E have helped me and seem to have scientific evidence supporting their role helping UC. Turmeric stopped my bleeding a while back but anti-oxidant vitamins AC and E seem to help a lot as well but I have to take quite a lot over the RDA to notice an effect I think I use 1200iu of vit e (3 tablets) as an example and 1500mg vit C (3 tablets) a day.

I have the same issue. I have been in remission since may 2007 (on imuran and asacol) and the blood returned about a week ago. I was - and am devastated by its return and frightened that I may end up as sick as I was a year and a half a go (6 weeks in hospital, 2 rounds of intravenous cylclosporin, predinsone and a blood transfusion).
Like you, I have no other symptoms- just plently of blood with each bm (1 or 2 day). Although my doc is away he prescribed cortifoam. So far, no improvement. Althought truthfully, I think the stress has been the worst aggravator of all.  Stress=more blood=more stress=more blood.
I will be seeing my doc next week- but in the mean time, saw a naturopath and started an Anti-inflammatory supplement (mostly tumeric) and something called DGL as well as fish oil and probiotics. I started bio-k today on the advice of a friend. I'm hoping it will help.
I think I need to chill out more than anything. Every trip to the washroom is like a horror show- not sure if its a lots of blood or not- but it looks like a lot. I am trying to stay postive- and lucky I am feeling as good as I am- but I'm fighting the anxiety and depression of the diseases's return. I know the best answer is to stay positive and to take care of myself.
My husband and I desperate to conceive and this flare just feels like one more obtacle in our way (we've been trying for three years). I wish you luck and would love to know how you're doing or get advice from others.
