Ow! The left side of my face is all swollen up and hurts, and my PCP put me on Azithromycin today. The worst part is I was scheduled for my Remicade tomorrow and had to cancel it. I don't know how long I'll have to wait to get rescheduled.

I hate when my body betrays me!

You'll be feeling better soon. If you have cable, try taping some episodes of "Corner Gas" on WGN (its on late at night so I tape it). It keeps me laughing, and that is the best medicine.

Thanks. This is the first time I've ever had to put off a Remi infusion. And I never get infections, so on the rare occasions I do, I really feel put-upon. I plan to rest a lot and baby myself. Since I never get anything normal, I figure if I sneeze at the wrong time, this infection will end up in my brain or something!

Whine over, I'm going to try to get some sleep.

As a sufferer of chronic sinusitis, I highly suggest using an irrigation system through the sinuses. (NeilMed is great. You can pick it up at Walgreens. A little awkward at first, but painless.) It will flush out the infection much faster, in many cases, preventing the need for antibiotics. I always give my infection at least 2 weeks before I seek professional care, which was encouraged by my ENT. Sorry about the delay in getting the meds you need. :( Grab some hot tea and cozy up!

Thanks, but this started in the sinus between my eye and my nose, and the area around my eye is blown up like a balloon and red and purple. I can barely see out of my eye because of the swelling. Waiting not an option for me. I do irrigate routinely because of my allergies.

Let's hope the z-pack works; if not, I'll have to accept something that will give me the big D. Doubling up on probiotics and keeping my fingers crossed.

Judy, I can relate....maybe hold off on doing the irrigation too often, maybe a decongestant like Sudafed and a spray at night before you go to bed so you can breathe and keep the area as open as possible to drain.

The Z pack helped me after a few days, the sinus infection I had this time was different than any others..when I blew, it felt like glass shards coming out..horrific!\

Do also take Tylenol to help with the pain.

A warm cloth over your face on the sinus areas can help as well.

Drink enough fluids.

Make sure you DO NOT take any antihistamines in any products...it'll just prolong your suffering.

Get well soon,

Hope you feel better soon! I'm home sick with another cold and I'm hoping it doesn't turn into a sinus infection.

Thanks, friends. I'm making progress. Last night I didn't wake up when the Tylenol wore off, and I haven't needed to take any this morning. The swelling is still bad, but I know it'll take some time for it to go down. So far no D; I've been taking an Imodium along with the azithromycin each evening, and of course still hitting the probiotics hard.
