How I Stay In Remission and Simple Tips I Learned From All Of You

Hey Everyone! I have not been checking the board regularly since I will admit I only frequent the board when I am in a flare. I have been in remission for several months now and wanted to give you all some tips (though I am aware they are plastered all over the website) that I have used to stay in remission. Let me mention first that I have been diagnosed with UC all over my colon and that it is regarded as mild, by my doctor.

My daily routine:
Wake up and take my Meds that consist of Lialda 2 a day, Probiotics 2 Ethical Nutrients- Intestinal Care (I buy them at whole foods, the refrigerated kind), Centrum Multi Vitamin 1x, Slow Fe Iron Pill (for anemia)

Not only do I make sure I take all that; I have worked in 4 oz. of fresh Wheatgrass juice a day and 24 oz. of fresh carrot juice as well. I began implementing this when I was in remission for certain, I don't recommend the carrot juice if you are still flaring. This gives me increased energy and nutrients. The studies that have been done on wheatgrass that have shown significant results were done with people suffering from UC and it has been known to improve and relieve symptoms.

Night time: 1 Rowasa (every-night or every other night) I use Rowasa in conjunction with everything else I use as way of ensuring I am treating all parts of my colon.

Things I no longer eat or ingest due to the fact they make me flare:

No more Red Meat; trust me cut this out it changes everything
No hard alcohol or wine (I cut out the wine due to the high acidity levels in red wine which I love)
Limit fried foods and processed meats; this is key if you want to help your body out and keep things natural

Things I do but in moderation:
I do drink beer, some people find it is not alright with them, my body however tolerates this the best out of all the forms of alcohol, I do stick to expensive brands and higher quality beers because I find those to be the easiest on my body and colon.

I hope this helps, if you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. By no means am I claiming I know all, I just wanted to share what I do. I am 24 and still learning what to do but I thought I could let people in on what I do daily to perhaps give some insight into gaining a hold on their UC. Good luck to you all. -TheKlep

Lialda - 2.4mg 2x Day
Rowasa 1x (for spot treating and flare ups)
Centrum Multi-Vitamin 1X Day
Probiotics by Ethical Nutrients- Intestinal Care (Started Recently During a Long Flare Seems To be Working Wonders) 2x day
Slow Fe (Iron supplement)- 1x day
Lexipro- 2x Day 10Mg
