I have been having sporadic pain on my lower left side.  I was assuming it was from my Uc.  Well when I seen my GI last Tuesday, he pressed on that side and it hurt a bit.  I told him so and he said that was my ovary.  I am prone to ovarian cysts and usually they resolve on their own.  I've only had to have one laproscopically drained.  But for the women who are prone to ovarian cysts.  How can you tell the difference between the pain of your Uc and the pain from a cyst?  Especially if it's on the left side?

I just had a flashback to my trip to the hospital when I had that cyst. We went over railroad tracks in the car, and I almost saw stars from the pain. That's how sharp it was.

I am prone to ovarian cysts that also resolve on their own. I have never been able to tell the difference. In fact I found out about the cysts was during an ob exam the woman was extremely concerned and made me go and get an ultrasound immediatly. I had several giant cysts! They changed around my estrogen levels and they went away. I tend to get paranoid now and call both docs.

I remember when I had my first cyst. It hurt so bad, I was house sitting at that time, so I called my mom and my parents took me to ER asap. It was the day after my birthday. I don't remember the pain, just that it really hurt bad.

Thanks ladies :) The one I had drained hurt like heck but I'd be darned if I can remember which side it was on! The pain wasn't intense enough to make me cry but it was a constant sharp pain - no wonder because it was 6-7cms (yeah the OB was surprised it didn't rupture). This pain I have now is like a sharp, hot like pain but it's not constant. So either it's a small cyst and will probably resolve on it's own or my Uc is starting to act up a bit.
